Evaluation and Admission.

General

The District Office must approve the admission of all learners whereupon they will allocate an LSEN number to each individual. Learners must be severely intellectually disabled and must be physically and intellectually capable of deriving benefit from the school program. Approved standardized evaluation methods are used by trained staff to establish their abilities and to determine placement in specific class.  We would not want to admit a child who could cope in another school requiring less support.

Exceptions will be made on merit in deliberation with the District Office as well as the Director.

Admission Process:

If a referring school is involved, that school must complete GDE Form SNE (available at all GDE Schools) and inform the parents that the learner might be a candidate for Con Amore School.

The parents contact Con Amore School to request an interview to determine the level of support required.

All parents are requested to fax or bring all possible reports on the learner to the school, where after the Occupational Therapist or Speech Therapist will confirm an interview date.

If the learner is a candidate for Con Amore School, his/her name will be added to the Waiting list for placement as soon as there is a suitable vacancy.

Please note only learners from our feeder area will be accommodated.
